Game Enders Versus Win Conditions

A win condition and a game ender sound like the same thing but when playing group hug they are very different! Once you decide your goal can be something other than total victory for yourself it opens up a lot of options! And that’s where game enders come in. They involve creating a board state that is gonna make it very likely that someone at the table is gonna win very soon! If your goal is to create a memorable experience for the people at the table these cards will get you there!

Weird Harvest is an amazing way to accelerate a game of commander… And casting it while keeping a couple mana open for Tempting Wurm is definitely a game ender! The great thing about this one is that you only need to draw Weird Harvest to pull it off. You can use it to search up Tempting Wurm!

Games rarely last another couple of laps around the table after this plays out! But as a wet blanket alert I did have a player (who was apparently a card carrying member of the fun police) search up Mindslicer when I played Weird Harvest in an attempt to rob the table of joy! So it really is important to save the two mana and play Tempting Wurm on the same turn that you play Weird Harvest!

Seed the Land is a really fun way to flood the board with creatures and if you have Primal Vigor in play too, everyone is making two snakes per land drop! After a few rounds of snakes it makes Coat of Arms a really splashy game ender!

I have yet to see this one play out but I’m excited to try it! I’m expecting some long turns but wow what an impact! I think Kami of the Crescent Moon or Kwain, Itinerant Meddler would both be great Commanders for this strategy!

Throw in Tidal Barracuda and prepare to see the stack get nuts! Allowing players to play anything at flash speed, pay for it by discarding another card that shares a color and draw seven cards afterward is bonkers! Spoiler alert, everyone will mill themselves out but they will have a good time while they do so!

Thanks for checking in for the weekly Group Hug Gazette! I wish you all the splashy game enders this week!
